Max Uses Open Standards

Max Uses Open Standards

Max is built using open source software that allows the software to be hosted on non-Microsoft servers. Hosting Max on non-Microsoft servers reduces the licensing costs involved.

Max was also developed to be independent of a specific web hosting provider. This means that the website can be moved to another service provider or your company’s in-house server and Max will continue to function as normal.

Technically Speaking

Max uses the open source programming language PHP and database engine MySQL. A large and dedicated community of developers is continually updating both with new features. PHP has a very lightweight engine that results in faster execution of code. When compared directly to Microsoft’s ASP, PHP out performs on average by a 2:1 margin. PHP is currently in use on over 10 million domains.

Technical Requirements

Internet Explorer 5.5 or later is required to use Max when updating your website. However, site visitors will be able to view the website with recent versions of other major browsers.

A screen size of 800 x 600 or larger is recommended.

A broadband connection is not required but would decrease upload times for photos and documents.
